Artists’ Upload Instructions

Follow these instructions to upload new work to your gallery on the Parade Artists site.

 

1. Go to http://joehendry.com/paradeartists/wp-admin/ and enter your username and password. This will take you to the Dashboard where you enter all details.

• To add a new post, click Add New. This will take you to an individual post page. these individual post pages make up your gallery.

 

3.

• Enter your name, a hyphen and the item title. If we all keep to the same format, it will mean a cohesive user experience.

 

4. 

• Click in the main text box and add any subheading if you want to have one.
• Click the arrow to the right of the PARAGRAPH box and select H2.
• Press return twice and add your main text. The H2 in the format dropdown should be set back to paragraph for this.

• To enter your image, click the image icon shown. The following window should appear.

• Click BROWSE and navigate to where the file is on your own computer.
• Then click UPLOAD.
• Enter a Caption for people to read. A description is not necessary here. You can also enter an Alt Tag. This should describe your item – do not stuff this with keywords or Google will demote your page.
• In the box which says LINK URL, Right Click, SELECT ALL and then COPY the text.
• PLEASE DO NOT CLICK “INSERT INTO POST”
• Click the SAVE ALL CHANGES button at the botttom.

 

• 6.  Scroll your page down to the CUSTOM FIELDS box.
• Select THUMBNAIL as shown above.
• Right Click in the VALUE box and select PASTE.

 

 

7. In the CATEGORIES box on the right hand side, check the box against your name and your discipline eg, painter, glass artist etc.

8. Click the blue PUBLISH button ….and that’s it!

9. To update your existing pages, for examle if you need to activate Thumbnails on an existing page, simply go to ALL POSTS  and select your post. Then follow from point 5 above.

Some Requests

Please DO NOT touch any of the other controls or blue highlighted text other than to alter your posts or pages.

Please do not upload massive images! It can really affect the website. Images should be 600 pixels accross, certainly no more then 750 max at 72dpi.
